The Story Behind the Song

This song was written in the midst of physical pain and ongoing health battles, with a heart cry for God to heal me. My symptoms were growing worse and worse, even sometimes making me wish that God would just take me home to be with Him. I found that when I allowed myself to go down the rabbit hole thinking of questioning God’s reasons, it never yielded anything good. I had to instead discipline my mind to be stayed and focused on God instead of focusing on me and what I was experiencing. These health trials have been extremely challenging and have tested the fabric of my faith, but even through the fire, I have not been burned, I’m being refined. I’ve come to the resolve that while I will continue to pray fervently and frequently for complete healing in this lifetime, I am content to wait until eternity for that healing if that be God’s will. I just want to bring God glory with my life, no matter what that looks like. Ultimately, Jehovah Rapha, My Healer, has healed me in the most important way, which is spiritually. He has taken my sin upon Himself on the cross and paid the penalty for me, and one day soon, I will be with Him forever. That hope of glory far outweighs the afflictions being faced or that I will face while here on earth.

If you are facing chronic health issues, emotional trauma, physical injury, or other afflictions, I encourage you to focus on God, and only allow yourself to think upon those things that are true, lovely, pure, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8). Be of good cheer knowing that if you’re a follower of Jesus, you will be completely healed, if not now, then on the other side of eternity.

I sincerely hope this blesses and encourages you!
