The Story Behind the Song
This song was originally written with my family’s own experiences of how God has provided for us from surviving when it didn’t make sense on paper, to calling us to move to a place we couldn’t afford to help a new church plant. Yet with this song in particular, God has been proving His Name over and over and over again just in creating this music video for it.
The providing started when upon first inquiry, Stonyford Community Church was willing and stirred to help with this project. Then lodging was provided by a friend for that weekend. I thought I had found a videographer for it right off the bat, but it turned out that the first 2 videographers I talked to had scheduling conflicts. I was then connected with a 3rd videographer who turned out to also have a scheduling conflict, but he and his wife’s heart was stirred for this project if God would somehow open the door and work out the schedule and provide a reliable vehicle to make the long drive to Stonyford. As I waited and prayed that God would provide, along with many others who have been so faithfully praying over these projects, the 3rd videographer, Michael Fugitt (Michael Fugitt Films), contacted me and said his client that was scheduled for that weekend had just requested to reschedule to another weekend and he is now available to film the music video! We kept praying for a vehicle for their family, and 2 days before they needed to drive to Stonyford, God brought them a vehicle! GOD PROVIDES!!!
It doesn’t matter what you’re facing, God sees your needs and He provides for His children. It may not look like what you expect or be given how and when you expect, but you can trust that He will provide in His will, His way, and His time. Keep praying and believe that the God who feeds the birds and clothes the flowers, will indeed meet your needs. Resolve to walk in the works He’s prepared for you to do by seeking His kingdom first, and He will add those things unto you.
Bible Verses & Biblical Themes in the Song
- “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:25-33)
- “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” (Psalm 37:3-5)
- “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing…If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:4-5, 7)
- “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
- “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)
