The Story Behind It’s About Being Holy:
It’s About Being Holy is a very personal reflection on two decades of marriage and what it’s taken to move from striving and struggle into freedom and alignment in Christ.
In the early years, we resisted the very things God was using to shape us. What followed were long seasons of growth marked by pride, refinement, and the realization that love is a war…not a war against each other, but a daily war against our own flesh, and daily choosing to love each other the way Christ loves us.
This song captures the turning point: learning that marriage isn’t meant to fulfill us and make us happy, it’s meant to refine us. Marriage isn’t meant to be centered on happiness; it’s meant to sharpen us, and it’s about holiness.
This song is deeply rooted in faith, identity in Christ, and the ongoing process of transformation. It’s about choosing to fix our eyes on God together, to sharpen one another, and to walk in the freedom that comes from living fully surrendered to God.
Happiness does come with holiness, but in the end, the goal isn’t just a happy marriage…it’s about being holy.
