Here I Am (Send Me)

The song Here I Am (Send Me) is based on Isaiah’s vision in Isaiah 6 of the Lord seated on the throne and Isaiah’s realization that he was a sinful man in the presence of a holy God. Yet the beautiful picture of atonement that happens when the coal from the altar touches his lips and the boldness that fills Isaiah to answer, Here I am, send me! when he overhears the LORD say, Whom shall I send and who will go for Us?. The words of Jesus in Matthew 9:37 are mixed in to this song when it says, The laborers are few and the harvest is plenty. For thousands of years the harvest has been plentiful and in need of laborers to be sent into the harvest to reap it. We don’t have to move to another continent to reap harvest, though some may be called to which is great, but there is plentiful harvest all around us. We are called to be ambassadors of Christ and bring the message of reconciliation into that harvest in love which yields a reaping for His glory. Brothers and sisters, when you hear the Spirit’s voice, I pray this stirs your heart to respond, “Here I am, send me!”.
