The words 'He Restores My Soul' appear over a green valley with a snowy mountain in the background and a peaceful stream flowing through the middle of the valley with sheep grazing.

The Story Behind He Restores My Soul:

In July of 2024, God opened the door for me to attend a Healing Intensive Retreat for women who had experienced sexual abuse. The way He met me there was profound and far beyond anything I could have imagined—He used that time to bring deep restoration and clarity in my healing journey.

At the end of the retreat, one of the leaders handed me a t-shirt with the words “He Restores My Soul” beautifully arranged across it. Those words stayed with me. This song felt long overdue, yet God’s timing was perfect. What began as a simple phrase became a worshipful declaration of who God is and what He faithfully does.

He Restores My Soul is a reminder that even when the enemy tries to entangle us in fear, lies, and mental battles, we are not without refuge. We can run to God. We can anchor ourselves in His Word. And we can trust that He is actively restoring, healing, and holding us in His peace—day by day, step by step.

This song isn’t just about healing that has already happened; it’s also about trusting God with the healing still to come, fixing our eyes on Him, and resting in the truth that His mercies are new every morning.

Bible Verses & Biblical Themes in He Restores My Soul:

  • He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)
  • For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
  • Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things… practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8, 9b)
  • Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27)
  • You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
  • By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (Colossians 2:14-15)
  • The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
  • And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)
