God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

As I sat down to create an arrangement of this song, I originally planned to have musical instruments involved. This beautiful carol was originally dated back to the 16th Century and is one of the oldest known Christmas carols, with first known printed version of the first verse dating back to 1760. I ended up deciding to sing it acapella, harmonizing with myself and using my hands for percussion (aka I clapped, haha!).

I pray it blesses you as you hear and think on the lyric meaning, remembering that Jesus as a baby was born with the mission to save us.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen Let nothing you dismay Remember, Christ, our Saviour Was born on Christmas day To save us all from satan’s power When we were gone astray O, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy O, tidings of comfort and joy
