Christ Above All

September 26, 2025 — Krystal Craven
A black sky with small white stars of various intensity. Overlaying the sky are three white horizontal lines, the top and bottom are short while the middle is taller. In the middle of the tall line the words "Christ Above All" are cut out of the white, revealing stars behind it.

The Story Behind Christ Above All:

As I was gearing up to transition in my weekly devotional that I write and email Music Tribe and record as my podcast, Applying the Bible – I was about to wrap up the book of Luke and transition to the book of Colossians and I was stirred to write a worshipful song to go along with our devotional study.

I took truths found in each chapter to write the lyrics:

  • Chorus – Colossians 1&2
  • Verse 1 – Colossians 1
  • Verse 2 – Colossians 2
  • Bridge – Colossians 3
  • Outro – Colossians 4

Bible Verses & Biblical Themes in Christ Above All:

  • (Colossians 1:16-17) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him
  • (Colossians 1:19-20) For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
  • (Colossians 2:13-14) And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
  • (Colossians 3:5a) Put to death therefore what is earthly in you
  • (Colossians 3:14-15) And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
  • (Colossians 2:10) And you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
  • (Colossians 1:23a) if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard
  • (Colossians 2:6-7) Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith
  • (Colossians 4:6) Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person
  • (Colossians 4:2-3) Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ
