There is No Partiality

For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. (Colossians 3:25)

Though this verse appears at the end of the instructions to slaves, it is also tied to the exhortation for masters that follows. It serves as a timeless truth: For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. It is made clear that accountability before God is not selective. It is not dependent on one’s role—slave or master, employee or employer, family member or leader. Status, title, or position will not shield anyone from God’s just judgment.

This reminder should stir both humility and reverence in us. God is not swayed by human measures of power or importance (Romans 2:11). He sees rightly and without favoritism (Deuteronomy 1:17). To wrong another is to sin against Him, and there will be a reckoning. Yet the path of obedience is plain: seek the Lord, abide in His Word, and walk in righteousness – and in that we will be seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).

Our call is to live with integrity before God, knowing that His justice is perfect and His standard does not bend. It is in Christ alone that we find both the grace to be forgiven and the Spirit’s empowerment to walk rightly, without favoritism or hypocrisy; so that when we stand before God in the end, we may all be found to have been upright.
